Our History
The Call to Rescue
That calling, the purpose for this work, is to be a rescue station 1 foot from the gate of hell. Not 100 yards, not a mile or so down the road. We are to stand and feel the heat and flames of hell as we reach people with the wonderful saving knowledge of Jesus Christ. Where better to put a “firehouse” than 1 foot from a fire!
A Greater Love
Scripture says in John 15:13; 'No greater love has any man than to lay down his life for another.' In February of 2003, we witnessed the death of many people at a nightclub in RI. They burned to death inside this club as many were trapped at the exits, unable to get out on their own.
The Tragedy Witnessed
The most disturbing thing was as the crew filmed the fire, many people ran away or stood off and offered no assistance. Could it have been fear? Maybe. Could it have been that they felt they were safe, having escaped, so they were not going to get close to the fire? The real reason may never be known, but the purpose for why this work exists is known. The Firehouse Chapel is called by God to be a rescue station one foot from the gate of hell.
Standing in the Gap
We are not called to be the ones who stand off to the side and play it close to the cuff, protecting our own selves while others perish before our very eyes. Nope, no way! All our efforts will be to try and rescue as many as possible from the flames of sin and death. I’m sure the people trapped in that building didn’t care who was trying to get them out. There were no divides, but a common cause. People were willing to lay down their lives for another.
A Call to Action
So you’ve been snatched from the fire, are you going to stand off to the side and watch? Are you wanting to keep what you have close, not willing to sacrifice it for the sake of another?
One Foot from the Fire
There we stand, a rescue station, a firehouse, one foot from the fire. No fluff, no frills. Here’s the truth and here’s the choice….Sin is an all-consuming fire and many stand lost in the smoke. The time is short and the work must be done to rescue the perishing. Will you help? Where are you?
The Heart of the Vision
Take a look. All God wants is a willing heart that loves Him and desires to know Him more. That’s the vision, that’s the call.
